Migrate from DingTalk

Move DingTalk (钉钉) Drive files into a Dokki workspace.

What arrives

From DingTalk

In Dokki

Files in a DingTalk Drive space

Stored files you can open, download, and search

Folder structure

Kept

DingTalk import brings files across in their original format. Dokki reads the text inside PDFs and Office documents so they turn up in search, but items are not converted into editable Dokki documents the way Google Docs or Confluence pages are.

This makes DingTalk import a good way to move an archive into one searchable place, and a poor way to move work your team is actively editing. For documents that need to stay live, copy their contents into a new Dokki document after import.

What does not come across:

What to do

Comments

Copy any that still matter before you migrate.

Version history

The Dokki copy starts fresh.

Sharing settings and permissions

Set up sharing in Dokki after import. Nothing is shared until you share it.

Files over 50 MB

Move these manually.

Import from DingTalk

The files land wherever you start from, so begin at the folder you want them in.

  1. In the sidebar, point at the folder you want the files to land in and select the + beside it. To import into the top level of the workspace, use the + at the top of the sidebar instead.

  2. Choose Import….

  3. Under Source, choose DingTalk, then enter your app credentials or pick a connection someone has already set up. This connector uses an enterprise app rather than a personal sign-in, so a workspace admin usually sets it up once for the team, under Manage sources.

  4. Under What to bring in, choose the space and the items you want.

  5. Under After importing, choose Copy once for a migration, or Keep in sync if DingTalk stays the system of record.

  6. The bottom of the dialog shows where the content will land. Check it, then select Import.

Import by selecting items from the space rather than by pasting a link. A link does not always carry enough information to locate the file, and when it does not, the item arrives as a short placeholder instead of its contents. If you see a placeholder, delete it and import that item again from the space listing.

Who can do this

You need permission to edit the destination Dokki workspace. Setting up the connection requires app credentials from your DingTalk administrator; a workspace admin normally manages that connection for everyone.

If something fails

  • Confirm the app credentials are still valid and that the app has permission to read the space.

  • If an item arrived as a placeholder rather than its contents, re-import it from the space listing.

  • Open a failed item's error details before retrying.
