Migrate from OneDrive

Move files and folders from OneDrive into a Dokki workspace.

What arrives

From OneDrive

In Dokki

Any file

A stored file you can open, download, and search

Folder structure

Kept

OneDrive is a file store, so Dokki treats it as one. Files arrive as files, keeping their original format. Dokki reads the text inside PDFs and Office documents so they turn up in search, but it does not convert them into editable Dokki documents.

If you want a Word document to become something your team edits in Dokki, open it after import and copy its contents into a new Dokki document. For a handful of key documents that is worth doing; for an archive it is not.

What does not come across:

Not imported

What to do

Sharing links and permissions

Set up sharing in Dokki after import. Nothing is shared until you share it.

Version history

The Dokki copy starts fresh.

Files over 50 MB

Move these manually.

Import from OneDrive

The files land wherever you start from, so begin at the folder you want them in.

  1. In the sidebar, point at the folder you want the files to land in and select the + beside it. To import into the top level of the workspace, use the + at the top of the sidebar instead.

  2. Choose Import….

  3. Under Source, choose OneDrive, then connect your Microsoft account or pick a connection someone has already set up. Connections are added and reconnected under Manage sources.

  4. Under What to bring in, choose the files or folders you want.

  5. Under After importing, choose Copy once for a migration, or Keep in sync if OneDrive stays the system of record.

  6. The bottom of the dialog shows where the content will land. Check it, then select Import.

Keep a folder in sync

Turn on keep in sync when OneDrive stays the system of record and you want Dokki's copy to keep up. Sync runs one way — changes in OneDrive flow into Dokki, and edits to the Dokki copy are not written back.

Who can do this

You need permission to edit the destination Dokki workspace, and a Microsoft account that can read the files. Workspace admins manage shared connections; other members can import when their workspace role allows it.

If something fails

  • Files larger than 50 MB are skipped and reported in the results view.

  • Reconnect the Microsoft account if authorization has expired.

  • Open a failed item's error details before retrying.

  • A large folder tree takes time. Watch the results view rather than starting the import again.
